Between 1835 and 1865, New Orleans would become the 3rd largest city in the United States. The wealthiest city in the South, and the capitol of Slavery in the South.
In the the 1830's, just upriver above the city of New Orleans the Faubourg Livaudais and a close network of several plantations were parceled, sold and broken into smaller lots to form the city of Lafayette.
Now listed as a National Historic Landmark District, the city of Lafayette became better known as the Historic Garden District.
Come and Discover the land of Sugar, Cotton, and the Confederacy.
